The symbiotic relationships among small creatures are truly marvelous, captivation my awe and admiration. Nature’s petite inhabitants intricately interweave a seamless tapestry of life on Earth, leaving me astounded. In my artistic endeavor to create a collage, I aimed to encapsulate this vibrant motion and kaleidoscope of colors, accentuating the interdependent connections shared between plants, flowers, fruits, and their insect companions. With meticulous composition, my intent is to convey the exquisite beauty and harmonious synergy that arises from these intricate ecological partnerships.

The symbiosis of summer cactus vibes is the theme of this collage. When I stumbled upon an image of a cactus, it transported me back to a trip I took to Arizona long ago. I was struck by the sheer size and grandeur of these towering desert plants. Drawing from this inspiration, I incorporated the cactus image into my Symbiosis collage collection, weaving it together with other common elements from my body of work. Throughout the piece, various creatures echo the good vibes of the cactus with their dynamic movements, highlighting the interdependent relationships that exist in this vibrant ecosystem.

Last summer, I visited a sunflower farm and mesmerized by a sea of yellow flowers. The beauty and wonder of nature impacted me greatly with happiness and positive energy. I expressed my feelings and emotions on collage. The summery scene also reminded me of summer time in my childhood, swimming with my family. I would like to share my feelings of connection to nature and evoke similar emotions in the viewer. My work can not only represent visual interests but also be a way to connect with others and inspire them to appreciate and care for the natural world.

My artistic approach to nature-themed artwork involves exploring new techniques and allowing the natural world to inspire my creative process. Through collage, I aim to capture dynamic motion and color while emphasizing the interconnected relationships between elements like flowers and birds. By using diverse techniques, I strive to depict the beauty and diversity of the world around us in all its forms.

I construct collages by layering carefully considered backgrounds and elements, paying attention to composition, relationships, and movement. The resulting works are visually captivating, radiating a pervasive beauty.

The “Infinity Box” draws inspiration from Yayoi Kusama’s mesmerizing mirror room exhibition to create an immersive experience of boundless space. Using mirrors and LED lights, it crafts three versions with distinct visual encounters: white lights, a colorful array, black lights. Housed within shelves, these 12” x 12” installations ensure stability while engaging viewers comfortably. Background spaces were darkened and adorned with Kusama-inspired dots. The installation invites individuals on a transformative journey, echoing Kusama’s wonder. By combining mirrors, LED lights, and darkness, it explores the concept of infinity, delivering a unique, enchanting experience that pays homage to Kusama’s renowned mirror rooms.

Beauty floats up, down and sideways in my Algae & Wild Flowers collage. I found the primary image while visiting Powell’s City of Books-which bills itself as the largest independent new and used bookstore in the world-in Portland, Oregon. Previously collected images of algae and wildflowers were added next.

I make the background first and build up layers and layers considering composition, relationships and movements among others.
